I am very sad to inform you that Jean-Jacques Laffont passed away a few
hours ago. This is an enormous loss for all of us.
Jean-Jacques was one of the great economists of his generation.
He produced excellent and seminal papers in many fields and disciplines,
including environmental economics.
He has been one of the first economists to cooperate with FEEM in the early
nineties.
Thanks to this cooperation, Jean Jacques and his colleagues and students in
Toulouse produced several papers that opened up new research directions and
enhanced the quality of research in environmental economics.
All those who knew Jean-Jacques as a colleague, a friend or both, will miss
him deeply.
让-雅克·拉丰（Jean-Jacques Laffont）教授是国际上最负盛名的新规制经济学的创立者之一、法国图卢兹大学产业经济研究所所长,曾任世界经济计量学会主席和欧洲经济学会主席。
拉丰教授是一位享有国际盛誉的经济学家和教育家。作为经济学家，拉丰教授在激励机制设计、产业组织、公共经济学和信息经济学等诸多领域都作出了卓越的贡献。1992年，拉丰教授担任世界经济计量学会主席，1998年担任欧洲经济学会主席， 1991年被推选为美国经济学会荣誉会员，1993年被推选为美国科学院外籍荣誉院士，并于1993年第一个获得欧洲经济学会的Yrjo-Jahnsson奖（该奖与美国经济学会的克拉克奖齐名）。作为教育家，拉丰教授创办了法国产业经济研究所（IDEI）。如今，IDEI已经成为经济学界公认的世界第一的产业经济学研究中心，也是唯一获得微软公司资助的产业经济研究所。拉丰教授传播经济学的热情并不局限在法国， 他尤其关注发展中国家发展过程中制度变革所带来的激励问题。
回想起来,就在3年前,还在国内听过Laffont教授关于电信规制的讲座,那时英语不好,听不大懂他的法式口音的英语,现在想再听也没有机会了。 |
