Rankings of MBA Programs and Schools

Please see our comments on Rankings in the Glossary section of the www.MBAinfo.com Advice Pages. Just to be clear, we repeat some of the points here :
Ostensibly the objective (of Rankings) is to inform the market about the standing and repute of programs and Schools. Unfortunately the criteria for the rankings differ so much and frequently are not declared, so such rankings can be rather misleading. Thus - for example - a ranking of Schools based on recruiters' opinions of the quality of their MBA output will be relevant for a School with a large full time program - but will say little about one which concentrates on part time, distance and executive programs. Most major Business Schools and most major programs will appear in the top league on some ranking at some time or another. That's probably a better indicator of the standing of the School than any one 'league table' since the diversity of Schools and programs now is so large - that no single method of ranking will do justice to all types.
Some rankings are of Schools and some of programs. Most deal with American Schools and most take a broad based approach. Many focus explicitly or implicitly on full time programs. Fewer deal with other types of program or other parts of the world. Below we summarize some of the recent rankings. We suggest that you look at them all - and don't attach particular importance to any one of them. Just get an overall impression.
To help you get an overall impression we start with our own consolidated rankings. We have taken the 17 rankings below marked with an **. Together these feature 191 Schools. From this point of view, you might therefore consider these to be the world's most prominent Business Schools. (Note however that some Schools are included despite only featuring once in a specialist, e.g single country, ranking). We list the 'prominent' Schools for you in alphabetical order. We have then taken the data in the 17 rankings below and calculated a composite score for each of these schools and constructed the MBAinfo 'Super Ranking' for 3 regions. To see how this has been done, and to get advice on interpreting these rankings - click here.
If you are aware of any recently published rankings that we do not feature here - let us have the details and we will try to add a summary. We retain older rankings when they have not been updated and when they cover a region/category of programs/Schools not covered by others.
