These days I am engaged in choosing a supervisor.
As a matter of fact, there are two available associate professors in my division.
One is an Indian, whose English is a little different from mine.
The other is a Singaporean. Although he is professional about his project,an alumnus(not his students) from my former Univ. hears that he is not responsible for the students and the relationship between he and his fellowmen is also tight. This morning I talked with his own student. To my surprise, it seemed that this guy has a good impression about the Singaporean professor. I am confused. Why the evaluations from my alumnus and his student are so different? Could anybody tell
me which one is more important for a Ph.d student, the research ability of the supervisor or the attitude to the student?
By the way, as for that Indian professor, I only know that he hasn't recruited postgraduates for several years. Nobody knows the reason. Therefore, little infomation about him can be obtained.
Which one should be chosen, the Indian or the Singaporean?
Thank you for your opinions and advice. |
