In a January 11 post, Japan-based blog Mutantfrog Travelogue askedthe question: What are the ten best places to live in Japan outside ofTokyo?

For one of the site'sauthors, Curzon, a summer home in one of the following cities would beperfect: Biei in Hokkaido, Kagoshima in Kyushu, the island of Tsushima,anywhere on the Izu peninsula, Kawagoe near Tokyo, Rebun island northof Hokkaido, Karuizawa in Nagano, Yokohama, Wakayama and Fukuoka.Needless to say, some of these places are more practical than others.

Mutantfrog's commenters share their own ideas, with heavy dissentfrom those who have actually lived in Kawagoe. The entire townapparently does not share the old-timey Oedo architecture and charm ofthe historical district.
