Four things you need to do first:
1: skill assessment
I've done mine via CA at the cost of $395 and received the result in one week. CA is much quicker than CPA on skill assessment. There is another cheaper option which takes up to 4 weeks to get the result. Please refer to their website. Phone: 1300 137 322 if you have any question.
Documents needed for this step:
1)academic award/letter of completion
2)transcript
3)pre-assessment form which can be printed from their website
2: Police check
Do this as early as possible because it takes at least a month.
cost $43
Please refer to www.immi.gov.au for form and documents to prepare.
3: health check
Address: HSA Adelaide Office, Level 8 West, 55 Currie ST, SA 5000.
Make booking via phone: 84686084 and make sure u book the permanent one.
cost: $271.00
Documents needed for this step:
1)passport, which class of the visa u r applying for
2)You also need to form 26 and 161 from www.immi.gov.au.
3)photos? not sure... can't remember now, please double check with the staff.
4: IELTS exam
I think everyone know about this but if you haven't get four 7s, please make booking for another exam as soon as possible, as without four 7s you will wait forever...
Now for the documents I sent in with the application form:
1. transcript
2. letter of completion
3. Academic awards (both bachelor n master's)
4. receipt of health check/ the result of the health check (it's in an envelope which should not be opened by yourself)
5. police check
6. birth certificate
7. Chinese police check
8. bank cheque (for the application fee) u can use credit card too
9: IELTS result
10. passport copy
11. skill assessment result
All copies needs to be certified by Justice of Peace
If you have any further question, you can call 131 881 or 1300 364 613 which are the phone numbers of DIAC. It will take sooooo long to get an operator to answer the phone so just be patient.
