screw up
这个短语的意思有点像以前提到过的 f*u#c&k up，就是把事情弄糟，搞砸之类的意思。 Obama 新提名的几个高官因为经济上犯了错误，不得不退出提名。Obama 就说 they screwed up。
想想 screw，名词是螺丝钉，动词就是拧螺丝的动作。所以粗话里就有男人的某个动作的意思。上次看个电影有个家伙说别人在 screw his girlfriend
hook up
hook 名词是钩子，动词就是钩上，钩住。hook up 指勾搭上，或者钓上谁。比如说，那个就是他在健身房钓上的小妞儿，叫作 That is the chick he hooks up in the gym. 勾搭上某人叫作 hook up with sb
说到小妞儿了，澳洲比较流行叫 chick。偶尔也听到人说 bird 的，但那是 old fashion 了。
最后补充一句比较经典的话。今天看 ABC 新闻后采访一个工党阻挠 Rudd 救市计划的人，主持人哒哒哒数落了他一通，然后那个人反唇相讥，说， If you believe what you just said, then you believe everything. 我差点把饭笑吐了。佩服澳洲政客说话那个拐弯抹角，那个隐讳冷幽默
