2000年前，PQI的优势明显，拥有PQI即意味着拿到半个签证。有PQI还可以免雅思，提高签证速度。但2000年后，拥有PQI和普通OFFER基本一样。
为什么呢？因为，过去来澳的留学生不多，而个别学校吃不饱。所以有了PQI。相当于为它们开的绿色通道。而如今，来澳申请猛增，PQI自然也就被剥夺了其优势。
所以，不要再到处找PQI，花冤枉钱找捷径了。
Pre-Qualified Institution (PQI) program
The Pre-Qualified Institution (PQI) program is a cooperative arrangement between DIMIA and selected Australian educational providers.
It is designed to assist processing arrangements for selected students in the emerging markets of the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, India and Pakistan. It applies only to students applying in those countries.
Under the program, providers are required to recruit genuine student visa applicants.
Student visa applicants sponsored by providers under the PQI program receive priority processing at the visa issuing post. Providers may sponsor only up to their allocated number of places under the program.
Providers are awarded PQI status following an objective selection process using selection criteria developed in conjunction with the education industry.
If successful, a provider signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DIMIA. The MoU sets out the responsibilities of each party and provides a basis for the administration of the program.
The MoU also provides for sanctions where a provider does not meet the agreed performance standards. This could mean suspension or cancellation of PQI status.
Applications sponsored under the PQI program are subject to the same visa application charge and must meet the same requirements for a visa as all other Student (Temporary) visa applicants. They are also subject to the same visa conditions after grant of a visa.
A PQI provider is not limited to recruiting only the number of students as allocated under PQI. Students who are not sponsored under the PQI program may continue to be recruited and processed in the normal way.
Providers, or their agents on their behalf, are not permitted to advertise their PQI status. DIMIA in Australia and overseas will not provide details of providers participating in this program.
It is not possible for individual prospective students to "apply" for PQI status overseas. Students seeking details of PQI providers should be advised to select the course of study and provider which are educationally most appropriate.
Their chosen provider, if it holds PQI status, may then select candidates for PQI sponsorship from those students seeking to study with them.
It is important to emphasise that while only limited numbers of providers are selected to participate in the program, this is in no way a reflection on the quality of education offered and/or delivered by providers in Australia who have not been selected, or indeed did not apply, for PQI status.
