首先祝贺我们的实习生Nilesh成功在一家本地律师事务所找到全职Accounts officer 工作。Nilesh 给我们的反馈中提到在整个面试过程中的气氛是很愉快的，并且与面试者的交谈非常开心。

一般情况下会计求职者会在面试时觉得很紧张，同时，面试对招聘者而言是反复重复的过程。在面试中，面试官其实会更想去了解求职者的性格特点，因为这是从简历中无法得知的。除了你必须具备相关的技能和资质之外，招聘者会选择你的重要原因就是他们要先喜欢你的性格和为人处世的方式。

可是往往求职者在面试中会表现很紧张，无法展现自己真实的性格特点。你可能会觉得面试是一个很专业很严肃的过程， 所以你不能放松也不会讲讲笑话活跃一下气氛。 其实在澳洲文化中，你在保持自己的专业度同时，具备一定幽默感是会加分的，这适用于不同的企业文化 （除了做审计和法院工作之外）。

解决办法：

首先在面试过程中， 你应该尽量放松自己。 一开始当然不容易， 不过在你参加了2-3次的面试之后， 你会大概清楚自己适合怎样的方式来回答问题。 通过前两次的面试经验，你会降低自己的紧张感，在以后的面试过程中表现地更自然。前两次失败的面试给你带来准备下一次的经验。

其次，你可以用适当的笑话来让面试气氛轻松活跃一些。 不需要为了搞笑在面试过程中一直讲笑话。 可能你本身不是一个很幽默的人。 这样你需要自己练习锻炼一下，毕竟这在你的事业发展中是有用的（比如说升职和提高领导力方面）。

求职者应该要明白一点，在面试中如果你使面试官微笑，那整个面试过程就不会很紧张严肃。这会大大增加你进入下一轮面试和得到Offer的机会。

Dear Lee

Here is my notes on interview.

When I received the call on Monday it wasabout 9.30AM.  I was asked if it is possible for me to come for aninterview at 2.00PM.  As I live at Blue Mountain it was not easy. Wearranged interview two days after.  This really helped. As I was busy withother assignments I still had one all day to prepare for interview.  

When I arrived to the firm, the placelooks more like an art studio than a law firm. I was surprised.  The placewas spacious and has a beautiful vibes!   

The interview  was a panel set-upwith an Accountant (resigning after 3 years and whose position I applied for),a Paralegal and a Principal.  Principal joined in bit late, so we revisitfew of the questions.  Interviewers were exceptionally friendly and nice.I prepared for many technical questions. However, there were hardly anytechnical question in the interview. There was one competency basedquestion.  This question was related to “ability to think outside thebox”.  That’s it!!

We had quite a few funny moments. On oneoccasion, Principal asked me; “we are friendly but sometimes we get very noisyand loudly. You seems to come from a peaceful, meditative place. How would youcoup up with us?”  I said: “although, I have not added on to my profilebut I do have experience working with intellectual disable children..” We allhad a big crack on this.

One more was: “What do you know about ourfirm?”
I said: “I suppose, you know more about itthan I do!”  

For some mysterious reason, it felt more like an informal chat after this!  

Here are the main questions that I canrecall:   

1.    Tell usabout yourself.

2.    Why didyou move to Australia?

3.    Why didyou apply for this job?

4.    Pleaseexplain your experience with professional firms.

5.    Varietiesof client that I work with.

6.    What isinvolve in Xero Certification?

7.    Do I haveexperience managing the Trust accounting?

8.    Where doI want to be in five years in terms of my career?

9.    Why I amnot interested working for CA firms, anymore?

10.  Most challenging project I worked on.

11.  Is it not inconvenient for me to travel two hours forjob?

12.  What types of monthly reports you prepare?

13.  BAS lodgement in Xero.

14.  Is there any policy difference between NZ andAustralian accounting standards? (not 100% sure what they asked, but gentlydirecting to effectiveness of my NZ experience in Australia.)

15.  One question regarding effective communication.
