上面报道中的Diamond Jubilee就是“钻石庆”，即60周年纪念。以前人们在纪念结婚周年的时候，会互赠礼物，结婚时间越长，赠送的礼物也越贵重，后来人们就用礼物来指代结婚的年份，例如结婚五十周年称为golden wedding（金婚）、结婚一周年为paper wedding（纸婚）等。这种称呼也适用于其他的纪念日，此次“钻石庆”就是纪念英国女王accession to the throne（登基）60周年的。其他重要的纪念日还包括Golden Jubilee（五十周年纪念）、Silver Jubilee（二十五周年纪念）、以及Platinum Jubilee（75周年纪念）。
