据《布里斯班时报》报道，2017年年轻大学排行榜（The Young University Rankings）列出全球48个国家的200所最佳年轻大学，它们都是在过去50年间成立的。
昆州一共有八所大学榜上有名，澳洲一共有23所上榜。
昆士兰科技大学的排名从第28位攀升至第24位，格里菲斯大学也从第48位攀升至第35位。
阳光海岸大学、邦德大学和南昆士兰大学首次进入这份榜单。中央昆士兰大学从101名到150名的行列上升至第90名，南十字星大学从第94名跌进那个行列。
詹姆士库克大学仍然排在第38位。
午夜时分公布的榜单显示，澳洲首次有大学跻身前20的行列，即排在第15位的悉尼科技大学（UTS）。
瑞士的苏黎世联邦理工大学（EPFL）连续三年排在第一位。
泰晤士高等教育排行榜编辑巴蒂（Phil Baty）表示，他们对各高校的13个内核指标进行了评估。“各大高校在教学、研究、国际前景与知识转移方面必须显示出高水平的成就。”
昆士兰科技大学副校长科德瑞（Peter Coaldrake）表示，昆州的“生态系统”有助于年轻大学取得好成绩。过去几十年间，州政府一直对教育、研究与创新感兴趣。
