All of our School’s current full-time PhD students areeither funded by the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) offered by theHong Kong Government or by postgraduate studentships provided by CityU.Currently we have international PhD students from Australia, Brazil, Canada,China, Columbia, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, UK and USA. Our facultymembers coming from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic disciplines canprovide a wide variety of cross-disciplinary supervision. While our School is now accepting PhD applications(with research proposals), we encourage those with outstanding academic recordsto apply through the HKPFS by 1 December 2016. For awardees of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship, thepackage is as follows:HKPFS’s monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,560);CityU’s Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate StudiesEntrance Scholarship (around HK$71,500, or ~US$9,170) which coversa students’ tuition fee and on-campus hostel accommodation expenses in theirfirst year of study;Conference and Research Related Travel Allowance ofHKPFS at HK$10,000(~US$1,280) per year for up to 3 years;Funding provision from CityU’s Research ActivitiesFunds at a maximum cumulative amount of HK$30,000 (~US$3,850)during the entire candidature of study; andCityU’s Conference Grant at a maximum amount of HK$10,000 (~US$1,280). Candidates whose applications for the HKPFS areunsuccessful may be admitted with postgraduate studentships instead.
