circulated your application with the research group you are most interested
in and the response has been very positive. However, they would prefer to
consider you for a PhD opposed to M.Phil. We don't offer Mres in the
department only M.Phil or M.Phil leading to PhD. Professor XX and Dr
XX would be happy to supervise you on an M.Phil but feel that you have a
strong enough academic ability to study for a PhD.
You indicated that your parents would be able to fund you for your studies,
would this be for 1 year or would they be able to fund you for 3 years to do
a PhD?
The other option is that we could consider submitting you for an ORS
award/University Studentship. If successful, this would fund you completely
for 3 years with both fees and maintenance taken care of.
If you would like to be considered for the ORS, I must emphasise at this
time there are no guarantees as we still have several other applications to
look at but we do feel that you may certainly be a strong candidate.
Please can you advise me as soon as possible if this is an opportunity you
would like to be considered for?
